Information package on Canadian National Championships host city Edmonton  here

Welcome to the information package for the 2015 Canadian Kettlebell Alliance (CKA) National Championships for Canada.  This event will be doing double duty - first, as a kettlebell sport competition for any and all levels of lifters, and second, to serve as the competition for 2015 that will select members of Team Canada for international competition.  At this event, male lifters can compete in Biathlon and Long Cycle.  Female lifters can compete in Biathlon, Long Cycle, and Snatch Only, however please note that to qualify for Team Canada, the only event open to women in the IUKL is Snatch Only (24kg or 16kg only).

The IUKL World Championships of Kettlebell Sport Lifting will be held in Dublin, Ireland in November 25-29, 2015.  In order to qualify as a representative of Canada for professional, amateur, and veteran divisions in Dublin, the Canadian National Team will be selected based on performances at the Canadian Nationals in Edmonton, Alberta on July 18, 2015.  Selections will be made by CKA representatives, Misty Shearer and Linda Gilmour.

Contained in the information below, you will find the details you require to understand the rules and regulations of the Canadian National Championship event for both recreational participants and those vying for a spot on Team Canada.

Because this event is sanctioned by the AKA/IUKL, all American Kettlebell Alliance (AKA) ranks, up to and including Master of Sport International Class (MSIC), will be awarded at this event.

Team Canada  Information

Professional lifters (32kg – men, 24kg – women [snatch only]) who win their categories at Nationals will automatically join Team Canada and move on to compete in Dublin, should they choose.

Amateur lifters (24kg – men, 16kg – women [snatch only]) and Veteran lifters will be selected by CKA representatives based on their performance relative to fellow participants at the National Championships as well as relative to previous world-stage standards that have been set by international lifters in previous IUKL world events.  CKA representatives will also take into account the athlete's interactive history on social media and at previous meets in order to ensure the best representation of Canada goes forward to the IUKL.  CKA representatives want to ensure professional representation of our country while overseas, as well as a supportive attitude of the hosting IUKL body while competing in this prestigious event.

*The only event recognized for women at the IUKL World Championships is Snatch Only.  Men can compete in Biathlon and Long Cycle.

Hello Mandy,

You may register for any women's event at the Canadian Nationals at Edmonton in July, but the only event for women internationally in IUKL competition is the snatch (16 or 24kg only). Professional, amateur, and veteran division athletes will be selected by Misty Shearer and Linda Gilmour based on factors such as performance, social media presence, and overall presentation.

You can find more information here http://www.foundrytraining.com/CKA%20Rules%20and%20Regulations.pdf

Cheers!
